“Parkside is place and a practice where people are invited to become empowered, to positively transform their lives, and to reconnect with their most authentic selves.  And I am passionate about joining and furthering these types of journeys!

I work at Parkside because I believe it is important to empathically explore historical experiences to understand current functioning and symptoms so that individuals and families are better positioned to manifest peaceful and joy-filled, resilient futures”.

Mela Calomino is a skilled mental health professional with over 20 years of experience working directly with children and families as well as collaborating with community service providers to advocate for improved systems of care.

Mela employs an authentic and relational style of engaging and empowering her clients with empathy and encouragement.

She believes that individuals tend to operate at their best current ability with the information and understanding that they have, and that with increased learning and insight, powerful growth is possible, even likely!

Mela wholeheartedly believes in meeting clients where they are in their life’s journey and takes the approach of fostering motivation for self-directed recovery.  This style of therapy is meant to assist clients in becoming their own therapist and evolving to the best versions of their true selves.

Mela earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Edinboro University of PA and her master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work.  Mela’s work is broad-based, working in child welfare, human services, and now providing clinical interventions to Crawford County’s most vulnerable citizens.

Mela contributes on various regional boards and possesses a wide variety of designations as a clinical trainer and other vital certifications including Seeking Safety, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), HealthRHYTHMS, and EMDR with children and adult trauma survivors in school and office-based settings.
